MVV Environment is part of the MVV Energie group of companies. We provide a sustainable alternative to landfill through energy recovery for publicly and privately-owned waste disposal companies.
The UK business retains the overall group ethos of 'belonging' to the communities we serve, whilst benefitting from over 50 years' experience gained by our German sister companies. We provide solutions for waste reduction, energy generation and recycling.
In the UK, MVV currently consists of 5 separate companies:
EfW is a way to recover valuable resources and a vital part of a sustainable waste management chain. This diagram takes you step-by-step through the EfW process.
We aim to produce 28.5 Megawatts of electricity; enough to power at least 39,000 homes. In CHP mode, heat (as hot water) will be available to local businesses. EfW only accounts for 0.05% of total particulate emissions in the UK annually.* Bottom ash may be used as an aggregate, replacing the need to quarry for virgin aggregate, for example, in road construction.

The EfW CHP Facility would be located on an area of land forming part of the existing Canford resource park which currently includes:
What will the facility look like?
Our architects have already produced some design drawings which include a number of sustainability features. These include green rooves and rainwater harvesting.
Managing and minimising any potential effects of our proposals on the local landscape and views is an important consideration as we develop the project. This can be done in a number of ways, such as through the building design and colour, landscaping and the materials we use.
Canford Energy from Waste CHP facility aims to:
Results of all these assessments will be presented in a report called an Environmental Statement, which will accompany the planning application.
Topics agreed with the Local Planning Authority include:
Too much non-recyclable waste is still being sent to landfill or overseas, when it could be used as a fuel to generate electricity and heat here in the UK. By treating this waste as a resource, MVV are able to contribute to renewable energy generation and energy security for the UK.
UK-based company MVV Environment are preparing a planning application for an Energy from Waste (EfW) Combined Heat and Power (CHP) facility on land at Canford Resource Park, off Magna Road. It will complement the existing waste activities of the integrated waste management park. If the planning application is successful, a new company, to be called 'MVV Environment Canford', will be looking to employ local people to help build, operate and maintain the facility.
This is a pre-application consultation and we are in the process of finalising our planning application documents. We believe that early engagement with the local community is an essential part of any new development. The planning application is likely to be submitted to BCP Council in late spring 2023; there will be another opportunity for you to comment on the proposals, once the application has been submitted.
