MVV Environment submits planning application for new energy from waste combined heat and power facility

MVV Environment submits planning application for new energy from waste combined heat and power facility

UK-based company MVV Environment Ltd has submitted a planning application for a new energy from waste combined heat and power facility at the Canford Resource Park. This site is an active waste management site, including a closed landfill and waste processing facilities, located off Magna Road within the unitary authority of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council. The proposed development is a 260,000 tonne per annum Energy from Waste Combined Heat and Power (EfW CHP) facility that will be Carbon Capture Retrofit Ready (CCRR). Residual household waste, collected by BCP and Dorset councils, already goes to Canford Resource Park for treatment, with a very high proportion of it being transported back off site for final disposal.

MVV recognise the importance of local people and knowledge to any new project and earlier this year staged a number of public consultation exhibitions, held at The Hamworthy Club, Canford Magna, and Bearwood Community Centre, Bearwood. Having taken into account comments received, the full planning application is now available on BCP Council’s planning portal under reference APP/23/00822/F.

Paul Carey, Managing Director, said “MVV believes their proposals will provide a more sustainable solution for the management of the region’s residual waste, turning it into useful energy, some of which can be used locally. We look forward to discussing our planning application with the community.”
